BATTLESHIP IOWA TO HOLD 9/11 OBSERVANCE IN HONOR OF FIRST RESPONDERS

Patriot Day 2013: Honoring the Fallen First Responders of 9/11

A moving commemoration observance of the 12th anniversary of 9/11 will take place aboard Battleship IOWA Wednesday, September 11. All first responders who attend will be welcome to tour the ship FREE of charge following the ceremony.

The memorial program will start at 8:00 am with a presentation of colors, followed by a reading of first responders names and a presentation of a ceremonial wreath. First responders killed on that tragic day 12 years ago totaled 411, which included 343 firefighters, 60 police officers and 8 private EMT/paramedics.

This event is part of Battleship IOWA Remembers, a series of events and celebrations presented by Pacific Battleship Center (PBC) aboard the iconic ship. This is part of PBC’s overall mission to “Celebrate the American Spirit” every day at Battleship IOWA, by sharing the accomplishments and sacrifices of American patriots and engaging visitors in unique and exciting ways that bring the ship to life by connecting the past with the future.

Battleship IOWA is open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information on the attraction, go to www.pacificbattleship.com.
