Update 9-22 1700: Two crew members who went missing when their helicopter went into the Red Sea on Sunday are believed to be dead, the U.S. Navy said Monday. 
Update 9-22 1700: SAR Joy! Three of the five people aboard a U.S. Navy helicopter that crashed in the Red Sea have been rescued. and efforts to find the other two are continuing, the Navy said Sunday.

The three who were rescued are in stable condition, the Navy said.

The U.S. Navy statement from the Bahrain-based 5th Fleet, says a  MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter has crashed in the Red Sea and a search is underway for five crew members aboard.

The Navy says an investigation is underway, but there was no hostile activity involved.

SAR: Search teams included aircraft and small boats.

Navy Press Release: NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY BAHRAIN (NNS) -- An MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6 crashed in the central Red Sea Sept. 22, while operating with the guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110).

The status of the five personnel on board the helicopter is still being determined.

The crash was not due to any sort of hostile activity.

USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is providing aircraft and small boats for search and rescue assistance.

The incident is under investigation.
