Update 8-22 1900: 794 acres, 100% contained. [Final] (Tenant Fire 411 acres, 100% contained. Shirley Fire 454 acres and 76% contained.) Due to more accurate mapping, total acreage has decreased. California Inter-Agency Incident Management Team #3 (Pincha-Tulley) has scheduled transition to a Type 3 team (Bingham) at 1200 hrs on August 23, 2013.
Hwy 178 remains closed into Kern River Valley until Cal-Trans is able to re-open the road.
Crews mopped up and completed direct line on Shirley Fire and Tenant Fire.
Update 8-20 0700: 351 acres 0% contained 
Update: 351 acres 0% contained. No road access, moderate rate of spread with torching.The fire was one of at least four sparked Sunday night by dry lightning that hit the area around Lake Isabella, Another burned about 20 acres.

350 residences, 25 Commercial properties, and 25 outbuildings/other threatened.

Voluntary evacuations in the Shirley Meadows have been lifted.

Team has been providing IA resources to the Kern River Ranger District with a plan to transition IA response at 0800.
Fire is smoldering and creeping.
Crews mopped up and constructed dire line when able in Shirley Fire. Tenant Fire was in patrol status. Shirley fire is being supported logistically in Kernville and Tenant fire in Porterville.
Highway 178 remains closed into Kern River valley. Alder Creek Rd and Campground and Evans Flat Campground are closed.
Voluntary evacuations in Shirley Meadows area have been lifted.
Update 8-21 1900: 865 acres, 71% contained.  (Tenant Fire 441 acres, 72% contained. Shirley Fire 454 acres and 70% contained.) Road access is limited into both fires.  Terrain is steep and inaccessible. Hazard trees and mud slides from rains present even more difficult terrain. Hwy 178 remains closed into the Kern River Valley.  Alder Creek Road and campground and Evans Flat Campground are closed. Voluntary evacuations in the Shirley Meadows have been lifted.

Steep inaccessible terrain, thunderstorms, and lightning activity over the fire are hampering air support.  Multiple road closures are in effect.  The Alta Sierra Ski and resort areas are threatened, evacuations are in place.

Update 8-18 2000: 150-200 acres,  As of late last night, Kern County had 3 engines, two dozers and a crew on this. I believe SQF had two engines and a Black Eagle crew (Blue Card) from Porterville. Kern is now dispatching a Type 3 STEN.

Update 1945:  Water Fire CA-KRN-024091 Tejon Ranch, Kern County, west side of Interstate 5, Tejon Ranch,  Fire burning north of Rancho Fire burn scar. 
612 acres, 75% contained.
Heavy fuels in sheltered drainages near perimeter on the north side will require extensive mop up. Under slung line along the north side of Digier Canyon still presents a slight threat of rollout.
