The Davis Creek Complex is comprised of four fires about 18 miles northeast of Alturas, Calif. Two of the fires south of Davis Creek have been contained. Two fires north of Davis Creek have grown together and are estimated at about 160 acres. Cal Fire played a major role in the initial attack on these fires.

Update 9-7-13 0700 ONC: 90 acres, 100% contained. 
Fire acreage was reduced due to improved mapping.
Update 9-6-13 0700 ONC: 160 acres, 20% contained. Expected containment 9/7/2013. Scofield, Type 3 IC. 
Fire is located near the community Davis Creek.  Complex consists of four fires.  Two fires are on SRA lands and are contained at 10 acres.  Two fires are on FRA MDF lands and have burned together for 150 acres.  Fire spread towards the community of Davis Creek is a concern. . Significant progress was made overnight on handline construction.  Handline construction will continue today, along with handline improvement and mop up around structures

CA-MDF- Rail Fire Wildfire Modoc National Forest - 68 acres, 100% contained. [FINAL] #CaFire

Rail Fire CA-MDF Rail Fire Wildfire  Modoc National Forest

The Rail Fire was reported around 2 pm Thursday, Sept. 5. It is located about nine miles northwest of Canby on the Devil's Garden Ranger District of the Modoc NF. Gusty winds are hampering suppression efforts. The cause of the fire is under investigation.


Update: 9-8-13 2000: 68 acres, 100% contained.
Update: 9-7-13 0800: 68 acres, 50% contained. Expected containment 9/8/2013
Fire is located 11 miles NW of Canby. Suppression resources made good progress on the fire.  Minimal fire activity was observed over the last shift.Update: 9-6-13 1900: 68 acres, 50% containment. Expected containment 9/8/2013. Hunter, ITC3. Multiple snags within the fire perimeter remain a concern. Crews continue to improve containment lines and mop up. No projected movement of the fire is expected under current weather forecasts.
Update: 9-5-13 2000: 100 acres, 0% contained. Otterson, Type 3 IC. Fire exhibited running, torching and spotting during yesterday’s operational period. Indirect dozer line has been constructed around the fire, however multiple spot fires have been reported outside the fire perimeter.  The fire is expected to spread to the northeast and will move into heavy timber if indirect containment line does not hold.  Hunter (IMT3) from Lakeview, OR will transition with local unit this morning.
