Firefighters battled a wildfire that started Thursday afternoon along State Highway 138, west of State Highway 173 in Summit Valley. During the initial attack, the fire threatened 25 homes in the Telephone Canyon area north of the fire, San Bernardino County Fire Department brought in additional resources to protect the homes. Swift actions by firefighters stopped the spread of the fire from reaching Telephone Canyon and no evacuations were required. Currently the fire is holding at 75 acres and is now 80% contained. State Highway 138 was closed to all traffic from Summit Valley Road to State Highway 173 until 10:00PM. The fire was managed under unified command between CAL FIRE San Bernardino Unit, US Forest Service and San Bernardino County Fire to 10:00 PM on July 25. The fire is now being managed by San Bernardino County Fire
