Update 8/24 1200: 4,500 acres, 85% contained. It's good news from the Fort Hunter Liggett Fire Department. The fire, remaining within the 4,500-acre footprint established by back-burning earlier, is now 85 percent contained, and most of the mutual-aid partners have departed. U.S. Forest Service firefighters remain this afternoon, and are expected to leave at the end of the day. It will still be several days of hard work for our firefighters, patrolling and mopping up, but it looks like the worst is over.Update 8/23 1900: 4,500 acres, 70% contained.
