The American Fire Video
The American Fire, started at approximately 4:30pm on Saturday August 10, 2013, is burning in heavy fuels on extreme slopes about eight miles from the community of Foresthill, California and has grown to 11,950 acres as of August 17, 2013. There are 1,396 dedicated personnel fighting the fire at this time to prevent the fire from reaching populated areas. They have successfully contained the fire 45% at the time this video was originally posted. Heavy fuels are creating large amounts of smoke, which is a significant issue for the Sierra Foothills, Tahoe area, and Sacramento Valley. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
